The short version
- We collect what we need to rent you a car: your contact details, identity and licence details, and your trip.
- No advertising cookies, no analytics trackers, and we never sell your data.
- Card details are never entered on this website. You pay at pickup.
- You can ask us to see, correct or delete your data at any time.
Who is responsible for your data
TunisiaCar, based in Tunis, Tunisia, is responsible for the personal data collected through tunisiacar.com and through our WhatsApp, phone and email support. Contact us at support@tunisiacar.com for any privacy question.
What we collect
When you send a booking request, we collect:
- Title, first and last name, email address, phone number and country
- Date of birth
- Passport number and issue date
- Driving licence number and issue date
- Flight number and notes, if you add them
- Your trip: pickup and return places and times, the car, options and insurance you chose
When you contact us by WhatsApp, phone or email, we keep the messages needed to handle your request. We do not collect payment card details on this website.
Why we use it
- To handle your booking and prepare the rental agreement.
- To check that the driver meets the age and licence requirements.
- To contact you about your booking: confirmation, changes, and flight delays.
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations, including identifying the driver if the authorities ask.
We only email you about your bookings. We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell it.
How long we keep it
We keep booking records for as long as needed to run the rental and to meet our legal and accounting obligations. After that we delete them.
Cookies and browser storage
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. The website uses your browser's local storage to remember your search, selected car, options and filters between pages.
On the booking form, the box "Remember this information" is ticked by default. When it is ticked, your driver details (including passport and licence numbers) are saved in your browser only, so the form is pre-filled next time. They are not sent anywhere else by this feature. Untick the box before booking on a shared computer, or clear your browser's site data to remove them.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- show you the data we hold about you,
- correct it if it is wrong,
- delete it, unless we must keep it by law,
- stop using it for a particular purpose.
Send your request to support@tunisiacar.com or on WhatsApp. We reply within 30 days. These rights come from Tunisian Organic Law No. 2004-63 on personal data protection. If you live in the European Union you may also have rights under the GDPR. You can complain to the Tunisian data protection authority (INPDP) or to the authority in your country.
Security
The website uses an encrypted HTTPS connection. Booking data is stored on our own server, and only approved staff accounts can access it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your data, we update this page and the date at the top.
